This Smart India Hackathon 2019 is the first time where the private organizations and NGO participate with their problem statements in the 3rd edition of Worlds Biggest Open Innovation model.
And this is the second SIH to conduct software and hardware categories for fetching the talent hub from the Juvenile population of our nation.
Now let us get into the hackathon mood,
Note the important dates of the SIH 2019:
The last date to register your team is 20th Jan 2019.
Your team ideas should be submitted before 20th Jan 2019.
The result of the selected ideas will be announced in the 1st or 2nd week of February 2019.
The grand finale will be inaugurated on last week of March 2019 for Software.
The grand finale will be inaugurated on last week of May or the start of June 2019 for Hardware. (This one is expected according to the dates of SIH 2018).

Software (Nature of SIH):
Hackathon is mainly for solving day to day problems in our society by using software and automation techniques. So the programming skill is an unavoidable prerequisite to participate in Hackathon. The Grand Finale of the Hackathon will be conducted for three days continuously on a particular place in India which would be announced by AICTE and MHRD after the result of Selected Ideas. 8 am to 8 pm is the timing for the Hackathon. You must finish your submission within 36 hours (12 hours of each day). And the Juries and the concerned companies will audit your submission and announce their selective winners. Finally, they would get the prize amount as per the complexity of the problem stated and concerning your rank(1st or 2nd or 3rd).

Hardware(Nature of SIH):
As I stated above the Hardware problems are unique and these problems are coordinately solved by mechanical, electronics and computer engineering student.
Because they together can form an effective team and they apply their knowledge individually and make it together prudently and result in the effective product.
Hardware problems are also solved in Hackathon ,but here they give five continuous days to make a working prototype.
As similar to above , here also the juries audit your final product you produce in those five days and finally they announce the winners.
Here the IOT(Internet of Things) plays a major role.
As it is a hardware solution they won't ask you a physical device (which is cost effective).
They would ask you a working prototype and the required censors and these are generally brought by the team which is often offered by the institution as you guys are selected for the grand finale.
And you can claim travel expenses from the government by showing the train tickets(only for second class sleeper).
